Hand of the Silver God

:Summary:
When Jayal Kaw’s mother is kidnapped by half-scorpion creatures called Synn, her life as a spoiled heiress to the Kaw Industries fortune is over. She has ten days to rescue her mother before she’s used as a Synn surrogate and surrogates do not survive the birth.
Jayal rushes out into the world as an inexperienced traveler and her recklessness leads her right into a gang of bandits who cut off her arm, derailing her mission. Dying from the wound, Jayal makes a dangerous pact with a mysterious deity called the Silver God. He gives her one of his arms and promises the power to save her mother. What he fails to mention is that the arm compels Jayal to help anyone who needs her.
Jayal’s new-found power makes it impossible to deny the war, injustice and carnage plaguing her people. Gifted with the ability to do something, Jayal must choose between saving the only family she has or saving her entire nation.

Project Overview
Hand of the Silver God tackles and avoids the following Fantasy Tropes:

Trope 1
White MCs: HoSG takes place in Euliya, where the population is largely PoC.

Trope 2
Middle Earth: There isn’t anything Medieval about the world of Euliya. I would say it’s more modeled after Russia/Mongolia/Tibet, Large US Cities, and largely made-up futuristic cities. The government is a democracy and there will be no princesses or princes outside of history. Furthermore Mithrinar is Earth in the future, while I feel most fantasy is alternate history.

Trope 3

Rags to Glory:  Jayal isn’t poor, she’s upper middle class. She never loses her fortune and continues to prosper from it during the first book.

Trope 4

Elves and OrcsEuliya boasts over 20 unique races outside of humans. There are no elves or orcs or dwarves or even creatures of their likeness. The closest thing to a fairy is huge and looks like an insect. Furthermore, not all races are uniform.

Trope 5

Chosen One/ Prophecy: While Jayal is chosen, in a sense, it is not because she’s spectacular, it is because she is rich. In a sense, there is nothing special about her at all, it’s her mother’s wealth that makes her interesting and her own decisions make her a hero.

Trope 6

Evil for the Sake of Evil:  My villain, Kebinu is not evil, he’s hurt and a little unstable. I want Kebinu to be an accessible, relatable bad guy.

Trope 7
No technology: This book takes place several apocalypses in the future. Our world is in the history books and Mithrinar is a world that is very curious about technological advancement--so they study us.

Trope 8

Magic is Rare: In Mithrinar, “magic” is common and has been the cause and effect of so many apocalypses. However, Magic has not been banned because it is 1) not universally agreed upon as magic and 2) universally believed to be necessary. Everything requires the manipulation and cycling of "Ahn". Certain types of Magic is banned—such as necromancy. Magic is a thing that can be learned and studied by anyone and just like any subject, you’re going to have gifted students.

Trope 9
Purple Prose:  The prose in HoSG won't be clunky. The characters don't have "Britishisms". I plan to use my knowledge of poetry to keep the language vivid but not flowery. PLAN TO.
